Deliver Me From Darkness unveils a new vampire sphere! Tes Hilaire brings to life a new battle between good and evil, one in which only the pure will endure. Interesting new characters await readers as the story unfolds. Roland is a true alpha male, whose goodness and love will change everything. Karissa is the long awaited prophecy that the Paladins have waited for. I enjoyed this book, I wish Karissa had been a stronger character, she had incredible powers that seemed unused until the very end. I wanted Roland to court Karissa for a bit longer before she threw herself at him, however there wasn't enough time. I became fascinated by Gabriella, a secondary character, that screams for her own story. I hope that Tes continues to delve into this dark new world, with book 2.

The Greatest Genre: What Inspires Romantic Suspense?

Romantic suspense is the greatest genre ever. Why?

No other genre supplies as many thrills and chills, ups and downs. Romance is great, but

romantic suspense adds an edge of danger to the flame of love.

But how does this come about? How do you, romantic suspense writer, ply your craft? Where

do you get your ideas?

I hear this question often and usually answer flippantly, “From Sears. They sell them by the

dozen in the basement, between the exercise machines and the barbecues.”

More realistically, ideas can pop in from anywhere. I travel a lot, and the cool places I’ve been

often inspire my books. When I was touring Alaska, I started writing a manuscript that became

Seducing the Hermit, erotic romance written by my alter ego, Suz deMello. A long-ago trip to

Florence in 1978 informed several scenes in Fashion Victim, a romantic suspense novel.

The romance part of romantic suspense is often inspired by people we meet. A woman I knew

in Alaska told me she’d moved there to find a man, because the proportion of men to women is

twenty to one—a fine harbinger for romance.

The suspense part—well, that’s something else. I tend to write romantic suspense from the

victim’s point of view. I ask myself, “How would it feel if I was being stalked? What would I do?

What would happen?” The answer is in Fashion Victim, in which my heroine, a couturier, is

harassed by very determined tormentors.

Sherry Baby was born from the question, “How would two ordinary people respond to being

trapped by a serial killer?” Set aboard a yacht cruising the Bermuda Triangle, Sherry Baby

explores what would happen in that situation.

Romantic suspense touches our hearts, grips our gut and takes us on thrill rides…unlike

The Night is Mine by M. L. Buchman is collective throttle into an interesting suspense! Buchman's descriptions are an "All Access Pass" for what lies in the cockpit. I thoroughly enjoyed all the attention to detail, it felt as if I were sitting in the pilot's seat. I just adore a good military suspense, Emily played her part well, yet I was left without the more serious tones I 'm used to in a romantic suspense. I enjoyed the story until the rules of engagement changed and Emily became the First Lady's chef. I fear it left me feeling as if I had been cheated of what could have been a truly excellent story if Emily hadn't left her post. Taking the story all the way to the White House completely changed the experience of the journey. Emily's father being the Director of the FBI and the President a childhood friend seemed too far fetched. Mark's stolen moments with the First Lady, just didn't ring true to me. It is in my opinion that the conduct that compromised the chain of command between Mark and Emily also swayed my opinion of book. I wish there had been a more realistic romantic relationship between characters. I enjoyed the Night Stalkers brotherhood, I believe it is a strong concept that will unite further stories in the series. I hope to read more from Buchman in the future, his writing is rich in detail and gives the reader a wonderful view.

"Where There's a Will, There's a Fae" ~ Lost Girl Recap

Bo agrees to help a will-o'-the wisp and search out the one responsible for stealing his treasure. He promises to tell her about her family if she finds the thief. As Bo searches for the culprit, we learn of more interesting species of the Fae. As she searches for the truth, she meets new allies.

Here's my take:
Opening scene brings us Kenzi and Bo in a hardware store shopping. Kenzi is in all her glory with her oh, so lovely, "bed head" blond hair. Bo tells Kenzi about her up bringing before she ran away from home. We learn that she grew up in a small town in the Midwest, attending church socials and car shows, but most interesting of all she had Prom Queen ambitions. As they shop for wares, a hot man catches Bo's eye, and she can't seem to stop herself from wanting to become acquainted and quench her hunger. Thank goodness for Kenzi, who is there to keep Bo in line and focused on their shopping.

We then find ourselves watching as a man searches a fog drenched forest. Green flames erupt all around him, more interesting is that he seems to be searching for someone, telling them to show themselves. (Call me crazy, but it would seem he's been here before) He comes across a small shack and let's himself in, he then finds a chest full of gold and gems.
Bo and Kenzi are decorating their humble abode, and Bo is giving Kenzi the 411 of keeping out of trouble and not stealing. Kenzi as always, wants the know the definition of "trouble". Lo and behold we have a strange man appear along with his green fire, startling Bo and Kenzi. Plunger weilding Bo and brass knuckles Kenzi want answers and they're not afraid of using force. We learn that the man is a will-o'-the-wisp, who likes to be called, Will. He's a Light Woodland Fae who lives in the forest on the outskirts of town. He tells of his treasure being stolen and how he wants Bo to help him find it. He has information Bo wants, to further his cause.
Swing on over to the police station and we find Dyson and Hale chatting it up. Hale is giving Dyson his play by play of his date, the night before, in detail. Once again Hale refers to his singing capabilities, and how he was able to use them. (Yep, he's a siren). As Dyson comes around the corner he spies Bo talking to a police officer, but as soon as the two lock eyes, everything else becomes nonexistent. Bo asks Dyson for his help tracking down the owner of the gun. After some threats and coy looks Dyson finally caves and agrees to help her out.

Dyson then decides that Bo needs to learn a little bit more about the Fae and takes her to a Fae bar. As soon as they walk in, Bo is giving off major seduction waves, and has everyone looking her way. Dyson introduces Trick, an elder in the Fae world, who just happens to be a bartender at The Dell. We learn that The Dell is neutral ground for both Light and Dark Fae, it is a sanctuary from all persecution. Trick takes Bo into his office to have a little chat. Bo learns that both of her real parents must have been Fae, due to the fact that only when both parents are Fae can there be a Fae child born. Trick goes on to explain that Bo must sign in because she is undeclared and all undeclared Fae must sign in to keep track of them. Bo learns she may have been abandoned in order to save her life as a child, but it still doesn't stop her from feeling abandoned.

Hale comes back with info on the gun's owner and where he can be found. Bo hightails it out of the bar and leaves Dyson discussing her with Trick. Dyson is worried that Bo is going to get herself killed, but Trick's not worried about Bo, he thinks he knows who she is.

Bo and Kenzi head over to the trailer owned by the man that stole Will's treasure, but they find that the place is booby trapped. After almost getting her hand shot off, Bo along with Kenzi search the trailer for leads. Out of no where, shotgun toting, trailer park Barbie, walks in armed and ready to shoot. Bo, sees this as wonderful opportunity to grab a snack before they leave. Yet, as Bo nibbles, she gets carried away and starts to make a meal out of Barbie. Kenzi tries to pull Bo away before she kills the woman, only find herself facing an angered and hungry succubus. To Bo's horror, she soon realizes she got carried away and apologizes before they flee the scene.

While Kenzi heads back to the house to babysit Will, Bo goes jewelry shopping. Bo gets tired of playing nice and shows the jeweler just what she's capable of, she wants answers and want them, now. The jeweler tells her where she can find the thief who sold him some of the jewels.

Mean while, Dyson and Hale are at the scene of Bo's snack and Hale is worried about what how many bodies they are going to have to make disappear. Dyson defends Bo, stating that she more than likely was defending herself, but Hale doesn't buy it.

As Bo and Kenzi stake out the thief's new digs, Bo decides to dress up and play maid to gain access to his room. Boy, is she in for a surprise! Snap! The thief is waiting for her and has a gun! That's right Micheal knew Will would send someone to retrieve the treasure, but what's even more interesting is that Will, the wood dude, just happens to be Micheal's, FATHER! Micheal tells Bo the story of how his mother's one night stand lead to his birth. It seems that Micheal is willing to give back the jewels if Will meets with him, he wants to talk and ask him some questions. Meanwhile outside the motel room door some guy is taking his head off and pulling out a sword! Kenzi is watching from the car, and leaps into action. The headless swordsman fights Bo in the motel room, while Micheal escapes. In flies Kenzi to save the day, with mop no less.

The girls then head over to The Dell, where they find Dyson at the bar. No humans are allowed into bar, unless the Fae that brings them, takes responsibility for them. So, Bo claims Kenzi as hers in front of all. They waste no time bringing Dyson up to date on the dead body they have in the car. He explains that it's a Dullahan, the mercenaries of the Fae world. Dyson is worried about Bo, she wants him to help her find Lauren's number so she can control her libido, but Dyson tells her that he can help her. Bo tells him thanks but no thanks. (Damn, I really want those two to hook up!)

Kenzie and Bo head back to the their place and ask Will why he sent the Dullahan on to Micheal, he denies having anything to do with it. Bo surprises Will with the knowledge that Micheal is his son. Will is flabbergasted but remembers Micheal's mother. (Kenzi emphasizes the situation with crud hand gestures, hilarious!) Will is overjoyed with the news of him being a "Daddy".

Later on, Bo goes to visit Lauren for information on how to control her desires, Lauren is a bit hesitant to help her. (Subtle attraction vibes are happening with these two.) Lauren tells Bo of something she created for another incubus she treated that might help her. As Lauren injects Bo, she ask her to join the Light Fae, but Bo tells her they would have to follow a few of her rules, first.

Bo then goes to meets Micheal at the storage facility and tells him that Will does want to see him. She calls Will and tells him to meet up with them. Bo wants to make sure he brought the treasure, so Michael shows her. As Bo is checking out the goods, Micheal pulls a gun on her and tells her that he is going to tell the world about Will and make him pay for what he did to his mother. Bo tries to make him see reason, but Micheal wants no part of it. He locks her up in the storage unit, just as Kenzi and Will walk ingo the facility. They have no idea what lies in wait for them. Bo tries to call out to them to let them know trouble is at hand. The confrontation between father and son is your usual why, how come, and why, scenario at the end of a pointed gun. Wouldn't you know, another Dulluhan shows up and guess who ordered them to kill Micheal? Yep, Daddy did, before he knew Micheal was his son. Kenzi and Will have to hurry and get Bo out of the storage unit so she can go "succubus" on his ass. As Bo fights it, Kenzi comes to the rescue once again ,yet this time throws the Dullahan's head into fire, killing it instantly. Bo is bleeding to death, her powers of healing not coming online due to the shot Lauren gave her. Will tells her his accounts of the night he saw her in the forest as a babe as promised, but Bo continues to bleed out form the wound on her neck. When he's done telling his tale and dissaperars, Bo asks Kenzi to find Dyson.

Dyson wants to make sure Bo knows what she's in for when she asks him for help. Bo tells him its the only way she can heal. Boy are you in for a treat! Succubus and Wolfman get their groove on and it sizzles.

Kenzi is turning out to be my favorite character! Below are just a few of her best lines!

Fae Terminology
succubus: is a female demon appearing in dreams who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse.
will-o'-the-wisp: also known as a ignis fatuus, is a ghostly light seen by travellers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes. It resembles a flickering lamp and is said to recede if approached, drawing travellers from the safe paths.
Gemini: a race of twin males or women in the Fae
Light Fae: Good Fae

Dullahan: is a type of unseelie fairie

You will join Miranda as she walks an unlit path, daring to love the unknown. Phenomenal story seeped in mystery to the very end and then some. Firelight will surprise you with its provocative and tantalizing displays of secrets shrouded behind one man. I thought I’d never learn what Archer looked like under the mask, readers will have to wait right up to the very end for answers.
Archer drove me mad every time he turned away from Miranda’s embrace. I found myself constantly arguing with him. Miranda on the other hand was a delight! She is all that is brave and self assured, a woman with very special talents, I just couldn’t get enough of her. I was left with a melee of questions after reading the story. Lovers of historical romances will enjoy this book, yet lovers of the paranormal will be delighted to with this mysterious tale. More than likely Kristen will unearth more answers in book 2 of the Darkest London series, Moonglow . Although I have just found a prequel to Firelight, called Ember, that I plan to read right away, it may clear up a few of my questions. By the way, there just may be a werewolf in London, so make sure to keep Moonglow on your radar.

Bitchin Lost Girl Recap

Here's my run down of last nights premiere of Lost Girl:

We meet Bo Jones bar tending and observing a young girl as she pick pockets a man at the bar. A short while later she saves the same young girl from an attempted rape in an elevator. We get a first hand look at what she is capable of, as she sucks the life out of the him. After she finishes killing the assailant, Bo takes care of the drugged girl. While Bo packs up in order to avoid any fallout due to her actions, Kenzi wakes and finds herself in a strange place and only a recording of what occurred, on her cell phone, to tell the tale. To make a long story short Kenzi is fascinated by Bo and wants to know more. Bo explains that she has no notion of what she is, only that she has the ability to kill those she kisses. (Some "maj" hero worship going on here!)

While Bo and Kenzi are chatting it up, we meet the cops at the scene of the Bo's killing. They know right away that it isn't your run of the mill killing and huddle to talk possibilities. So, these two cops aren't what you call normal, they know humans aren't the only inhabitants of the world, most likely making them of the non human variety. After some honest to goodness detective work the two find a video of Bo exiting the building with Kenzi and go in search of her.

Soon after the two cops track Bo down and she soon finds herself under the influence of some strange magic and cuffed, leaving Kenzi to watch as the van speeds away. Howerver, Kenzi pulls out her trusty video phone and starts taking snap shots of the disappearing van. Bo is then lead to a meeting of unknown persons. She soon finds out that they are called Fae. They begin to bombard her with questions, such as to which clan she belongs to. Bo is clueless, she has no idea what the hell they are talking about.
My clan? Yeah, o.k., right. Apparently Bo has been hidden since she was a child, raised by humans and has no answers for them. Bo is sent to be examined by Lauren, the Light Fae's doctor. Some crazy girl on girl attraction comes into play and Bo is told she wears "commando" well. Bo learns that she is a succubus and wants to know more. She is also told that she can be taught to control her powers. We learn the species of one of the cops, Dyson, it seems he is a werewolf. The jury is still out on his partner, Hale. (I believe he is a siren) .

It just so happens that Light and Dark want a piece of Bo, she will have to pass the test.
The Dark Fae are being represented by one cold piece of work, Ebony Florette Marquis, the Morrigan. She wants Bo dead and gone. Then you have the Light Fae's man, Ash, not to sure what I think of him. They are very interesting characters, indeed.

A fight to the death will determind which side of the sandbox Bo plays on. Right before the fight begins Bo gets some pointers from Dyson,on how to win the fight. She tries her moves on the wolfman, they play sweet succubus and wolf tongue tango, too bad it wasn't the right time. Bo is surprised to find that she can't control him like she does others. ( I can only hope they step up their game in the future.) As the fight ensues and Bo finds her fighting legs, the Light and Dark Fae watch from the sidelines. Bo just happens to kick forked tongued dude's ass and decapitates its quite nicely.

Then a freak walks in and tries to make Bo decide sides while he manipulates her. Before Bo can be brain washed by creepy bald freak in monk's clothing, Kensi comes to the rescue. It would seem that Kenzi just happens to speak Russian and has some useful mob connections, that help her locate Bo. As Bo confronts the Fae she tells them that she chooses the humans over the Fae. She decides to play Switzerland and wants no part of choosing sides.

Eventually Dyson takes Bo and Kenzi back to where he abducted her, setting her free. The episode ends with Bo and Kenzi laughing and walking away as the go home.

My Opinion:

Is it just me or haven't I read this book? Ha ha! Over all I thought it was great. Some of the lines were cheesy , at times forced. Loved the lead, Anna Silk, and her sidekick, Ksenia Solo, they played their parts well. I need my fight scenes and thought they were choreographed fairly well, but there's always room for improvement. My fave of the night was the severing of the Achilles tendons during the fight scene with forked tongued dude. The Dyson and Bo chemistry is all kinds of yummy and I want more. I can't wait to find out what the other characters are and their powers. If you are a fan of fantasy or urban fantasy you will enjoy Lost Girl.

Can't wait to see what freakiness next week brings and what goes down with the wolf. The clips looked wonderful!

Supernatural TV is about to be kicked up a notch!

Just when you thought there were enough paranormal shows to fill your week, here comes Lost Girl.

Paranormal addicts will be able to get their succubus fix on while watching Lost Girl.

Lost Girl opens the door to the world of Fae and how closely humans and the Fae coexist.

There are very powerful forces of Light and Dark at war and humans are caught in the middle.

Lost Girl is about a young woman trying to find her origins, called Bo. Bo has been raised by humans and yearns for answers. You know the drill; Who am I?, Where did I come from? Do I have family? She just happens to kill her boyfriend, draining him of his life essence, at the beginning of the the season. For those who aren't familiar with succubi,they are defined as female demons who appear in dreams in order to seduce men, more than likely during sexual intercourse. The male counterpart is the incubus. As the events start to unfold, Bo will have to confront who she is and choose sides in an ever changing world. Most importantly she will have to learn how to control her powers. Lost Girl shows great promise, this world of Fae and all its mythological creatures set in the real world. The show will have all sorts of tasty bits, for instance, shifters. Lovers of the paranormal genre will be following this one.

Lost Girl will air on the SyFy Channel, Monday, January 16 at @ 10/9 C..
Lost Girl has already been up and running in Canada, it is the creative creation of Prodigy Pictures. Bo, the succubus, is played by Anna Silk.

Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear is a suspenseful read! It has a mystery that needs to be solved and who better than a wolf to sniff out a killer. It had a wonderful story line, rich in detail. It intrigued me from the start, who was this serial killer of red heads? Bella and Devlyn work well together and have steamy chemistry and history. Call me blood thirsty, but I wanted more fight scenes. Heart of the wolf is a good paranormal, romantic suspense, all rolled up in a wolf story!

If you're like most readaholics, you have tons of books that are just sitting on the shelf that will most likely never be read again. Every thing from ancient encyclopedia sets, college text books, to unknown authors. New Year resolutions often begin with eliminating the clutter in our homes, and let's face it our book shelves are over flowing and demand a little attention. Many donate their books, or in the new digital age, we can always buy the ebook version if we feel we really can't part with it. There will always be those precious books that have been signed or hold sentimental value that we have to hold on to. My issues are always with the interesting book covers that I can't seem to part with, you can only frame so many, then you run out of wall space. Every year I try to find new and interesting ways to recycle old books, books that are anistetically pleasing but otherwise no longer hold any reading appeal. Luckily I can always find savy crafters that have come up with all sorts of ways to use old books. Here are some of my favorite ways to recycle the mighty book.

Deadly Pursuit by Nina Croft is a keeper! Croft has penned yet another entertaining paranormal sci-fi odyssey. Deadly Pursuit is determined to take you on board a ship full of misfits. The crew of “El Cazador” are full of puffed malarkey and gasconade. In Deadly Pursuit we learn of Al's true identity and wait as the crew decides her fate. Jon has come out of cryo amazed that he still lives, only to learn he may not be alive for much longer. Jon isn't your run of the mill prisoner, he just happens to be a werewolf, and one who wants to be left alone. As the events unfold, Alex learns how the other half live, however she too is being tracked through space. So, as the crew of the Cazador play a game of planet hopping, engaging and avoiding the enemy along the way, Alex decides she wants to play too. Rico and Skylar's relationship is in full throttle, yet it takes a back seat to the new romance budding aboard the ship. Alex and Jon will brave it all and stare death in the face more than once for each other. As the events unfold in this book you will learn new and interesting information that will answer questions from book one, Break Out. I highly recommend this book. Book 3 should turn out to be a doozie!

Can't Touch This by Marley Gibson is an amusing foray into what goes on behind closed doors in Corporate America, especially when you have a crush. I enjoyed reading this story, I found interesting the fact that it was told in first person. There were times I felt as if the characters were younger than they were. Vanessa was a diverting character, she had the ability to make me laugh on numerous occasions. There are great moments in the book, corky sayings that are sure keepers.

Rico will captivate you with his suave, commanding, and sexy ways. Skylar and Rico's connection will heat this story to it's core as we travel deep into the abyss of space. Croft blends the elements of science fiction and paranormal to create a world worthy of reading about. I hope to read book two, Deadly Pursuit next, I have great expectations for it. Will Croft answer all our unanswered questions? What are the Collective's plans? What will Jonny do now that he's awake? Who is Al? More importantly, if there are vamps in space, could we hope to find werewolves, too? I'll let you know!

Up A Dry Creek by Avery Flynn is a suspense waiting to be read! Bold and impulsive Claire will have you gritting your teeth in censor, she can't help herself. Claire is a modern woman who's not afraid to say what's on her mind and she's not afraid to show Jake all the benefits of Dry Creek. Together, a mystery will be unraveled in Dry Creek, however not before the enemy makes their lives hell. Jake's got the hots for Claire, but the job may get in the way of his feelings. This book is packed with tantalizing moments in interesting places. I wish Jake was more aggressive, Claire came through as a much stronger character for me. Funny and suspenseful, Up A Dry Creek will leave you wanting to visit the small town of Dry Creek again, in book two, A Dry Creek Bed. I thought that the cover of this book was wonderful it gave a sense of danger and intrigue.

Its propulsion capabilities will introduce you to interesting characters and a whole new slew of science fiction jargon. Celene is everything you would want in a pilot if you're searching the galaxy for an enemy. Her interaction with Nil aka NerdWork is steamy and down right out of this world. I wish there had been more in Celene and Nil's story. I hope to be able to read Mara and Kell's story in Collision Course. This story was a great short afternoon read.

Emma Jane Hellsbane always knew she was different, but she had no idea she wasn't even human. Well, at least she's half-human. She's half-fallen angel, too, and now dear ol' dad wants her dead. All the Fallen angels want all their troublesome offspring removed from the mortal coil so she's trying not to take it personally. Besides, she wants him dead just as much. Her father's death is the only way she'll be forgiven for his sin, stop those pesky demons from trying to hack off her head, and have any hope at all of getting back to a normal life as a wicked slick Intuitive Consciousness Explorer.

Of course, first she'll have to figure out which fallen angel is her father, avoid accidentally seducing her angelic mentor, help an old friend conquer his own fallen sperm donor, and basically save the world from a cataclysmic divine smack down.

No problem. With a last name like Hellsbane, Emma Jane was definitely born for the job.

Get Ready For A Ride! Hellsbane by Paige Cuccaro delivers a paranormal with vivid characters and an interesting view on all things heavenly. Emma’s character turns into a one heck of a fighter, too. There’s a smathering of romance, yet the relationships are a bit complicated. Search and destroy "Daddy" are at the top of Emma's "To Do List". I wish there had been parts of the story that melded better, for example Tommy’s exit left me perplexed and with loose ends. At times I felt too much information was given with the back stories of the characters. Over all, I believe that Hellsbane by Paige Cuccaro was a good book and the series has potential to grow.

Scrumptious! Forever and a Day by Delilah Marvelle is an romance full of mystery and delight. I loved the fact that this book was set in New York in 1800's, this time period is one of my favorites. Talk about memorable characters, Roderick a.k.a. "Robinson" has "Hunk du Jour" stamped all over him. If the cover of this book wasn't enough, Ms. Marvelle's descriptions of Robinson and his actions will leave readers with a yearning to find their own "Robinson". Georgia's fiery ways bring this story to life and then some. The hardships she and Robinson have to endure and overcome make this a memorable love story. Robinson's determination and desire to have Georgia will change once he learns who he really is. Will Robinson choose with his heart? I can't wait for the second book in the series FOREVER A LADY!

Ms. Koch doesn't just make a sequel to Touched By An Alien, she has indeed invented her own tango. "Exciting, incisive, provocative" with all kinds of yummy aliens are just a few words describing this book. We get to meet Jeff's family and more of "Mommy"'s other life keeps emerging. New aliens are making there debut in this one, some of which we've only heard their voices in book one. We finally get to meet the notorious "Chuckie" and Kitty will have to deal with the in-laws If you thought Kitty had an uncanny way of finding trouble in book 1, wait until you get your hands on this puppy. Kitty and Jeff along with their crew at the TBAA will have to tango with all sorts of nasty! This is a must read action packed tango!

Where Bookish Things Stood in the Larger Scope of Things in 2011

December was huge for book searches in 2011 there were more searches for books in December than in any other month according to Google data. In fact, when searching for books "amazon" was at the top of the search terms (keywords). The fastest growing search terms were "amazon kindle" and "nook", closely followed by "iPad". The searches for book review sites were up 170 % in 2011, it doubled from last year's searches. I thought it would be interesting to see how book genres fared in the term searches during 2011 compared to 2010.

Here's the breakdown of term searches in the "Book and Literature" catergories for 2011:

"best paranormal romance" was up 140 %
"historical romance 2011" had Breakout searches largely in Australia and the United States.
"urban fantasy book" was up 80%
*(Note: in Italy the term "libri urban fantasy" had Breakout searches)
"urban fantasy series" was up 250%
"contemporary romance" was up 40%
"romantic suspense" was up 40%
"fantasy" was up 50%
"book reviews 2011" was up 4,550% (Wow!)
"self publish ebook" was up 250%
"good mystery books" was up 50%

Here's my take on the info and I'm not an analyst in any way. It seems like more people were reading or interested in reading, all the numbers were up across the board. With the rise of the Ereaders and mobile devices, it allows us to read books anywhere at anytime, they're just a click away from readers. By the looks of the Book Reviews in 2011, it could be people like to read what book bloggers have to say about books, or there are just thousands of us out there supporting each other and/or wanting to know what the other is reading. There were many who were interested in writing their own books and saw the self publishing route as the way to take. In the above data I didn't mention Ereader accessories, but they had huge numbers, everyone wanted to protect their Ereaders. Terms like "nook cover" was number one, blowing out the others with Breakout numbers followed by "kindle book covers". Any way you look at it people where searching for all things bookish and the data points in that direction.

*Always support your favorite authors by pre-ordering their books and by visiting them regularly on both their sites and sites where their books are sold.

Breakout = a change in growth greater than 5000%

*In all the above term searches the United States was always at the top of the regions most interested.

*Note: I am not an analyst, just an avid reader who loves to take notes and research anything that catches my fancy. ;-)

What a great Christmas surprise! Talk about fantastic, I had a blast reading this story! Curran and Kate's relationship is growing and it's wonderful how they exchange banter. My favorite part was Kate's grand entrance into the Guild meeting, dressed to the nines in all her alpha glory. The looks on the faces of those attending, "priceless". Andrea goes ape shit and Ascanio loved every minute of it. There's so much more packed into this story, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Magic Gifts has all the things that you love, action, magic and witty exchanges. I was left wanting more as always. Thanks for the gift, Ilona Andrews!

Why should you readthe Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews?

The Kate Daniel series by Ilona Andrews is the best series I’ve read this year!

Now, you have to take into account that Ilona Andrew’s has been on my radar for a couple of years, but I never purchased one of her books. The covers were interesting, the titles of the books were catchy, but for some reason I never picked up a single title in the series. I was clueless to even the characters in the books. That being said, everything changed last month when on a fellow blogger’s book discussion, Ilona’s Kate, was mentioned. The Kate Daniels series was not the subject of the discussion that night. In fact it was a very subtle reference to “Kate”, said in exited and breathless tones, between the two bloggers that had me asking “Kate, who?” I think my question shocked them to no end, how could I not know who “Kate” was. Let’s just say that after that book chat, I decided to learn more about this mysterious Kate.

The Kate Daniels series is an urban fantasy series, written by Ilona Andrews, a pseudonym for a super husband-and-wife writing team.

The series takes place in Atlanta, but this is not your Mama’s Atlanta, let me tell you. It’s an Atlanta that many would not recognize in a hundred years. You don't get to choose when to turn on the lights or not, that decision is made for you. Existence teeters on the whims of magic. You’ll find your garden variety of creatures, some of which have been redefined, making them better. The Kate Daniels series in not a masquerade, magic is in your face and in a big way, hence the titles that begin with the word magic. The tone Ilona sets to the series run the gamut, and it works beautifully. The super natural elements keep you on your toes and in awe. The balance of Urban and Fantasy is splendidly done, creating a world that is both believable and enchanting. For those romance seekers out there, you are in for a ride. A love story unfolds as we turn every page, tastefully executed with all the necessary components needed in a romance. Ilona is crafty in her storytelling, bespelling us with characters and cultures oozing with lore from distant lands, rich in history and magic. The characters are multi-layered and fantastic; the conversations in the series are smart, witty, creative, and very funny.

If those aren’t reasons enough to read the series, see why Kate and Curran take the cake.

Kate Daniels is not your run of the mill supernatural character. From the first book she will be pulling on your heart strings and not in the simpering damsel in distress capacity. No, our Kate takes on a whole new approach,. (Yes, I’ve decided Kate belongs to us all, her cheerleading squad, if you like.) In fact it’s not just one thing that will endear Kate to you, more than likely everyone will have a different reason, if you were to ask them. She has mad skills when it comes to kicking ass, a must in any UF series. She is fearless, but in no way is she conceited. Her capacity to care about others is staggering, and her inability to see just how special she is, is bewildering. She is the friend everyone wishes they had, loyal and trustworthy beyond a shadow of doubt.

In every book it becomes more and more obvious that Kate will be in the history books as one of the best in UF realms. This series has a little of everything and it works. In fact this book is magic to it’s readers.
Kate has this amazing ability to wield magical words. Anytime during the series that Kate says these words, you will find yourself reacting exactly like the characters in the book, frazzled and dazzled. I found myself rereading the pages over and over, just to have the same feeling every time I read them. (I’m certifiable, I know). If you are a fan or plan to read the series you will understand exactly what I mean.

Now, on to Curran Lennart, the Beast Lord! Curran is your typical no nonsense Alpha male. He rules his kingdom with an iron will, no holds barred. He is one of the most powerful forces in Atlanta, and will stop at nothing to protect his pack. His decisions are always for the better of the pack and his word is law. Cross him and you will be faced with his army, his pack. Yet, as the series grows by leaps and bounds we learn far more about what makes this Lord of Beast tick. His feelings for our "in your face" Kate take us on a journey all through Atlanta. Curran will surprise you every time with his answers to a variety of questions asked by both readers and Kate. To get Curran to talk is the equivalent of pulling teeth. Ultimately, he chooses to speak and then you're floored by the few words he chooses to speak in your presence. 'Wow' is the only word I can think of that describes the depth of character he possesses. Curran was a keeper even from the first book, but he just won "Man of the Year" after I read Magic Slays. Thank goodness we get to read his POV's every now and then.

Ilona Andrews has created a world rich in UF nutrients for lovers of the genre. I have been caught in Kate's world and I don't want to leave. Who needs electricity anyway?

Zany! Brainy! Trippy! Touched By An Alien by Gini Koch has it all! TBAA was a wonderful read, it's jam packed with all the elements needed to keep you turning the pages. The reference to the west and the abundance of rock anthems was invigorating, not to mention endearing. Kitty has it going on! Ms. Koch gives props to all those gals that carry their lives in a handbag, with the added bonus that Kitty just happens to carry heat in the form of a Glock given to her by Mommy, too! Martini does justice to his name, he's like a nice cool martini that promises to take you on a long ride. Action packed doesn't begin to describe the adventure Ms. Koch takes readers on. It's a must read!

Really enjoyed the novella, it was a quick read and gave us a lovely glimpse at another amazing breed. Loved Brannoc, in fact I wanted more of this hero, his story was too short. Danika was not my favorite heroine, I felt she was a bit dense, I personally would have gone about things differently. Lots of action packed into this short read. I look forward to reading Sterlings's story in Darker Than Midnight coming this January.

Settling is a superb sequel to an already wonderful story! Solid was a such an interesting start to this series, but Settling has taken things to a new level. Shelley Workinger brings us vibrant characters each with their own struggles. Clio and her friends continue to learn what they are made of and more than ever they must stand together in order to survive from those who have other ideas. Some of the characters in the series have changed and not in the best way. Settling's ending is setting us up for what is soon to come in the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book, especially if you are a YA fan!

Sizzling! Once again Leigh gives us a sensual voyage into the world of the Breeds. Lawe's Justice is another chapter into the world of the Breeds, filled with steamy love scenes. Loved Diane and Lawe's characters, both of them brought this story to life. Lawe's Justice was a good read, sadly it's more of the same, no new surprises. If you're a fan it won't matter what rating it receives you will still read Leigh's books. I'm still waiting for one of the most anticipated books in the series to be published, Cassie's story. LL has promised it's in the works and for all her fans to be patient, but it's so hard!
